This is a pathway that includes a large and diverse group of careers. Social services involve careers that help people and communities get the support they need and work to improve people's everyday lives. The health portion of this Pathway includes careers that promote health, wellness, and diagnosis as well as treat injuries and diseases. Some of the careers involve working directly with people while others involve research into diseases or collecting and formatting data and information. Work locations are varied and may be in hospitals, medical or dental offices or laboratories, cruise ships, medivac units, sports arenas, space centers, or within the community.

​If students would like to pursue a career in Health and Social Services, they can create their own pathway. To create a personal pathway, students should ​look at the classes in the Health and Social Services Pathway and find courses that are relevant to learning about their career interest. Students should start with an introductory course, choose at least two subsequent courses, and aim to end their pathway with an internship or Capstone course. The Pathway should be a total of at least 4 credits. A description of each course is listed at the end of the Health and Social Services Pathway document.
